NIC PURNIA ON MOVE ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Arbind Kumar Choudhery , IAS Purnia (Bihar) , Dated : 14/04/2005 Collector , Purnia ________________________________________________________________________________________________ The NIC District Unit Purnia was established in the year 1989-90 , with an aim to provide relentless informatics services to the District Administration in planning and development. Ever since, the NIC centre has been helping the authorities by providing the necessary IT support to the various important projects being run in the region. Though it was a tough task initially to motivate the officials to adopt the computer culture, NICNET has since become an indispensable tool for the District Administration over the passage of time. The various projects undertaken by NIC Purnia ever since its rejuvenation have gone long way in helping Administration to establish a firm footing. Online Projects like Transport Management System, Treasury Accounting System, & Sales Tax Projects are excellent examples of utility of advanced technology in relatively high potential region associated with revenue generation for the poor state like Bihar. Installation of MIS for District Judge is an another mile stone in setting up Information Technology for decision support. As an acknowledgement gesture for the services rendered by NIC Purnia, the District Administration is now providing a well-furnished Computer Centre , build under Land Records Computerisation Project ,covering an area of 1400 sqft. in the Collectorate Campus which have been inaugurated on 28th December 2001 . ………… and now NIC Purnia District Unit is spreading its wings further by publishing its official web site, the first NIC District Centre of its kind in Bihar . Efforts made by the team of NIC Purnia in the supervision of its DIO are excellent and appreciable. The web site enriched with useful text & information provides a one point source for all one needs to know about the Purnia & its local administration. The highlighting features of the site include a section on activities of District Administration & Rural Development. Information on Rural Development has covered various important parameters, which are required by various agencies & NGO. Databases relating with Head of Offices & their address, Telephone numbers, list of important hotels, list of technical institutions is keeping most valuable information. ………… the excellent performances of NIC Purnia deserve wide appreciation and I am sure the dream of complete computerisation and informatics culture in the district will definitely be realised in the years to come.
